YOUNG dancers are being urged to enter a competition that will give them live performance experience on an international level.

Award-winning tap dancer Matt Flint is calling for Dorset's rich and diverse array of dance schools to enter Dance Proms 2015.

The annual event is one of the UK’s most prestigious international youth dance showcases, which takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday November 15.

Dorset based schools Quay Theatre Arts, in Weymouth and Studio One in Wimborne have been selected to perform at the event in past years.

As a patron and host for this year’s event, Matt says Dance Proms offers invaluable experience for the aspiring dancer, particularly those who live outside the capital, and the rare opportunity to perform with the most highly regarded guest artists at one of the world’s most prestigious historic buildings.

Matt Flint, said: “I encourage Dorset’s dance teachers and groups to put themselves forward for this prestigious event.

"Performance is the main reason for all our hard work in dance class.

"It completes our understanding of dance, makes all the long hours worthwhile and offers us the chance to shine and share what we have learned with others."

Dance Proms is organised by three of the country’s leading dance bodies: the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA), the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).

Entries are welcome from dance teachers who are members of any of these organisations.

They are invited to film and submit a short dance piece, which features dances choreographed by themselves or their students.

A variety of acts will then be chosen by a panel of professionals to perform at the event live.

Online registration is now open at danceproms.co.uk and closes on May 5 2015.
