Dorchester Arts are going back to school this April as they welcome Wildcard

Productions with their theatre production of Daisy Pulls It Off! - a wonderful

parody of life in a ‘gels’ boarding school which will be performed on Friday

24 and Saturday 25 April at Dorchester Arts Centre.

Sue Wiley who founded Wildcard Productions is a professional actress

having trained at The Drama Studio in London. She has performed in many

stage productions professionally and is a known talent on the Dorchester

Community Plays circuit.

Sue explains further, ‘ “Wouldn't it be nice to do something light and frivolous

when all this is over?” Those are the words that heralded the start of Wildcard

Productions and were spoken as we were coming to the end of our run of last

year’s Dorchester community play Drummer Hodge.’

‘A group of talented men and women and the idea of putting on Daisy Pulls it

Off which I have loved ever since seeing it in the West End many years ago,

seemed like a great idea. And now here we are - far too old to be playing

school ‘gels’, but loving every minute of it!’

Daisy wins a scholarship to Grangewood School for Girls and life changes

forever. A world of midnight feasts and treasure hunts open up to her, but

she has to deal with the sly Sybil Burlington who is not at all happy at

elementary girls being allowed into her hallowed world. Just how far will she

go to scupper Daisy’s success?

Sue, along with her talented cast performed the production in Martinstown

last month to great acclaim. Some audience members enjoyed the

performance so much they are coming to Dorchester Arts for a second

helping.

The production is a fundraising event for the work at Dorchester Arts and

there is also a raffle on the night in aid of the charitable organisation

Spurgeons that enables those less fortunate to enrol on academic schemes.

Daisy Pulls it Off embodies all the best of Angela Brazil and Enid Blyton, with

a dash of Five Go Mad in Dorset thrown in. If you love chocolate cake,

ginger beer and a cracking yarn, then you are in for a treat.
