A SOCIAL media campaign has sent a star of Only Fools and Horses to Lyme Regis this weekend.

John Challis, who portrayed Boycie in the BBC hit, will take his one-man show to the stage at the Marine Theatre on Saturday (21).

The star responded to requests from fans on social media and included a date in Lyme Regis, as part of a 25-date UK tour.

John was recently voted one of the country's most influential over-50 Tweeters.

"I'm no stranger to Lyme Regis" explained John. "It's a vibrant town and I've visited on many occasions.

"I spend a lot of time of Twitter, communicating with fans, and have 45,000 followers.

"Last summer, a number of them Tweeted me and asked me to come to Lyme Regis. I can't wait to visit and meet up with old friends."

John will take to the stage in the show called Only Fools and Boycie, in which he will tell stories form his life - including working with The Beatles and Oliver Reed, being introduced to The Rolling Stones, drinking with George Best and starring in Only Fools and Horses, Dr Who and Coronation Street .

John will also be available to meet after the show - and says he is humbled that locals wanted him to come to Lyme Regis.

"It's an intimate evening with me, in which I talk about my life and my years in Only Fools and Horses" he said. "There's also a meet and greet after the show, so people can get autographs and selfies if they wish.

"Only Fools and Horses changed my life and it's prompted some very funny episodes. People also get the chance to ask a few questions and I also meet the fans and sign copies of my autobiography following the show.

"I feel very humbled that the people of Lyme Regis Tweeted me and asked me to come and I’ll look forward to meeting them soon.”
