A FORMER Stone Roses guitarist will perform with his band in Bridport tomorrow night (13).

Aziz Ibrahim, who also writes music for Ian Brown and Paul Weller, will perform a special gig at The Ropemakers.

When Aziz and Dalbir Singh Rattan met in South Africa a few years ago, sparks started to fly. When acclaimed guitarist Aziz and classically-trained tabla player Dalbir combine, their energy takes their music through and beyond rock, punk and indie - fusing Western and Asian influences to leave audiences breathless.

Aziz has a long history in the music business, having performed with The Stone Roses, Asia, Ian Brown and Jah Wobble - who he is currently on tour with as a special featured guest. Birmingham native Dalbir is one of the most respected players in the classical field, having Shri Sukhvinder Singh Namdhari as his mentor. He has also worked with Richard Ashcroft of The Verve and Ocean Colour Scene.

Dalbir is an important creative force on both of Aziz' albums, Lahore to Longsight and Rusholme Walk.

Their combined sound is an infectious, enthralling riot of melody and percussion that relies on finely-honed skills, electrifying energy and some unique techniques.

The band are due on stage on Friday at 915.pm.
