A RIB-TICKLING tale of a nun on the run is coming to Weymouth Pavilion.

Sister Act, the feel good musical comedy, is being brought to the stage in spectacular style by WOW Youth Musical Theatre.

It tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime committed by her gangster boyfriend.

The musical is based on the 1992 hit film starring Whoopi Goldberg, with music by eight -times Oscar winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Glen Slater based on the book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner.

A sparkling tribute to the power of friendship, Sister Act is a reason to rejoice. This production gives the female members of the cast plenty to do with an enormous amount of lively music to learn.

Sister Act is WOW’s biggest budget production to date.

The nuns will have several different (habit) costume changes and a 13-piece orchestra to cope with the big band musical score.

The enormous set that will be used by Wow costs £5,000.

Director/choreographer is Martyn Knight who has directed many of the successful WOW shows.

He is assisted by Martine Burt, with musical director Heather Reed making up a very experienced production team.

Music rehearsals for the production started back in May with the director starting floor rehearsals in September.

The leading roles are played by Fern Pritchard – Deloris; Callum Heinrick – Eddie; Ada Barume – Mother Superior and Richard Treharne – Curtis.

There are many other parts, which means that there will be in excess of 20 body microphones in use during the show.

After the enormous success of the last musical Grease, WOW are looking forward to good houses again and promises the audience that you will have a great time.

Tickets are on sale at the pavilion box office on 01305 783225 or online at weymouthpavilion.com Seat prices start from £11.50 and £14, with concessions on Wednesday evening and Saturday matinee for seniors/children.
