A COLOURFUL event for all the family will see the clock turned back at the Nothe Fort this weekend.

The fort is preparing for some big bangs to mark its traditional Victorian Fayre on Saturday and Sunday. The Fort Artillery will be firing both cannons, as well as demonstrating their bugle and drumming skills.

There will be many traditional side shows and stalls including hoopla, coconut shy and stocks.

The Victorian school room will be open for visitors to try their hand at adding up ‘old money’ and writing with an ink pen.

There will also be a quiz where people can find the clues around the fort and come and collect their certificate.

One of the popular highlights of last year’s fayre was the maypole and this will return again for people to enjoy dancing and fun.

The Ukuleleans will be there to bring their unique style of music and singing. Children can also try fossil painting, the lucky dip, roll a penny and have their faces painted, while parents browse the various craft and food stalls.

The two days will be packed full of events, many interactive, giving visitors of all ages plenty of entertainment throughout the weekend.

It costs £5 for adults and £3 for children under 16 (children under 5 free). See nothefort.
