Dance, food, activities and games are on offer this weekend at the Dorset One World Festival.

A highlight of the event at the Borough Gardens in Dorchester are the Bollywood dance workshops hosted by Bishan Dance.

Bishan studied at the famous Shilpocala Dance Academy in Asia and is passionate about teaching people this fun and energetic dance.

Dorset One World Festival is back for its sixth year to celebrate the diversity of cultures in Dorset through world music and dance, food, activities, and games.

The festival is aimed at improving understanding of other cultures in Dorset with a programme of both traditional and modern cultural activities performed by the communities in Dorset and further afield.

There will be a global food village on offer with a selection of cuisines from Africa, the Caribbean, Poland, Spain, India and Bangladesh plus traditional ice creams and Italian pizzas.

The sports area hosts the annual tug of war competition, Indian Kabbadi and activities for children and young people. The Kids Zone will offer a range of crafts, face painting and Henna tattoos.

For a more relaxing experience, there is Chi Kung gentle exercise for the less mobile and Indian head massage treatments.

Co-ordinator Sarah Reeves said: “We hope that residents and visitors come and enjoy the festival from all corners of Dorset and experience a fun, friendly and culturally enriching day.”
