AN evening of poetry is being held in the garden of Portland Museum on Friday, August 1 from 7pm to 9pm.

The programme has been put together by Jill and Jeff Proctor, to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, and features poems written by women writers of the time, from the perspective of those ‘left behind’. The second half of the evening is more light-hearted, with a selection of poems associated with Portland.

Admission is £5, or £4 for PIMS members, and includes a complimentary glass of wine.

Tickets can be obtained in advance from the museum shop, or simply come along on the evening.
