IT’S official, Britain is a nation of cheese lovers!

New research from company Cathedral City shows that cheesy meals have topped the list of the UK’s favourite dishes, beating the old favourite curry, back to second place.

The survey reveals us Brits love cheese so much we would rather forgo our beloved social media than give up cheese and can’t get through the week without enjoying it regularly.

The UK spend an average of more than 20 hours a week online, but this new study has found that we would give it all up for the love of cheese - with more than one in five loving cheese more than social media. In fact, our love is so ‘grate’ a whopping 41per cent say they can’t go more than four days without cheese, and two thirds of us (66 percent) always make sure we have cheese in the house to satisfy our cravings!

This growing national love of cheese has seen curry lose its crown as our ‘national dish’ – instead being replaced with cheesy favourites such as lasagne, pasta and pizza. And a cheesy love has even extended into dessert, with sweet treats being pushed off the table and over half of us (55 percent) opting for a cheese board to finish our meals. In fact one in 10 people admit that they never have pudding and will always opt for a cheese board.

The study also shows that 85 percent of people prefer to eat meals at home over eating out at a restaurant and like to invite people round for food and a chat around the dinner table. And 43percent choose to enjoy their favourite lasagne, pizza and pasta dishes on a Saturday
