A BOUTIQUE guest house is celebrating after winning a hospitality award for the second year in a row.

Dorset House in Lyme Regis re-opening its doors in 2014 following a complete refurbishment by owners Lyn and Jason Martin. The Pound Road bed and breakfast business has been named a winner of the Taste of the West gold hospitality award.

Dorset House specialises in offering seasonal, home-cooked breakfasts using local ingredients, organic whenever possible.

Mrs Martin said: “I’m really pleased that Taste of the West has recognised our commitment to local produce.

“For us, it’s all about bringing new visitors to Lyme who want to taste the fabulous local food and discover all the great things the area has to offer.”

Running a B&B was a complete lifestyle change for the Martins. Mrs Martin previously worked for Jaguar LandRover and Mr Martin was a professional tennis play. He is still a tennis coach, involved with local clubs.

Mrs Martin added: “Three-quarters of our guests haven’t been here before, or not since they were kids, so we feel we are contributing to Lyme’s successful local economy by

attracting new visitors.”

The couple are no strangers to awards, with the hotel having won a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence in 2014 and 2015, as well as a TripAdvisor Green Leaders Award.

The hotel claims to be “in the heart of a foodie area” - with Mark Hix’s Oyster and Fish House nearby and River Cottage HQ a 30-minute drive away.

The businessowners boast that the hotel attracts 35 to 55-year-old creative types, as well as caters for lots of 50th birthday parties.
