A BRAND new west Dorset cider is on offer at a Weymouth tourist attraction.

Dorset Nectar Cider, based at Waytown near Bridport, has launched a Jurassic Skyline cider - described by the creators as a light and refreshing drink.

The new drink can be enjoyed at the Jurassic Skyline, formerly the Weymouth Tower. Staff at Dorset Nectar have also received interest from restaurants in Weymouth to stock the new drink.

The cider has been designed to enjoy 174 feet above the ground while enjoying views of the Jurassic Coast.

Owner of Dorset Nectar Oliver Strong, said: "We are extremely excited about it.

"It is a unique and refreshing drink. It is a medium sweet, sparking cider that also has peachy tones.

"The cider has been designed so that you can have a taste of cider and not be overwhelmed by it, especially while on the Jurassic Skyline.

"There are a number of restaurants, about four or five of them, who are keen to stock the new cider."

Farmed and bottled near Bridport, Dorset Nectar’s award winning ciders are fermented from sun ripened whole crushed cider apples and pressed at the orchard's cider barn.

The Jurassic Skyline cider is orchard pressed from 11 different varieties of sun-blushed Dorset cider apples. The juice is naturally fermented to produce a smooth cider that is fruity and bursting with flavour.

Mr Strong is looking forward to an exciting year and is pleased to be part of a "new awakening" for cider production across the region.

He said: "We have plans to make three different ciders for Lyme Regis Brewery, which is very exciting.

"Throughout the south west, there seems to be a new awakening for cider at the moment, and it is a very exciting time to be involved in it."

Mr Strong and his wife Penny have a passion for traditional methods of heritage cider making in Dorset. The couple believe the company's success is down to a love for refreshing cider and lots of late night cider tastings.

The Jurassic Skyline offers unrivalled views of the coastline. With windows stretching from the floor to the ceiling, the viewing capsule slowly rotates a full 360 degrees - offering uninterrupted panoramic views.

The cider will be exclusively available at Jurassic Skyline during ‘cider week from February 13 until Sunday, February 21.
