DORCHESTER is set to welcome its first ever Vegan Fair next month.

On Saturday November 7, the inaugural event will be held at the Corn Exchange, on High East Street, from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

There will be more than 30 stalls filled with tempting treats and goodies.

The fair will be hosted by Lizzi Shaw of Dorset Vegan, who also organises the Bournemouth Vegan Fair.

She said: “I’m really excited to be bringing a vegan fair to the heart of Dorset for the first time.

“We have a fantastic range of businesses and organisations joining us on the day, many of which are based in Dorset, and I hope to show that living a vegan lifestyle can be easy, delicious and nutritious.

“It’s not all about tofu and mung beans.”

Visitors can expect stalls selling everything from cakes, candles, pampering body products, stocking fillers, vegan ice cream, locally made kombucha, artisan chocolate, hot food, clothing, unique jewellery and much more.

Lizzi added that in recent years veganism had become more and more popular and she hoped all sorts of people would come along and find out some more.

According to a survey by Mintel, 12 per cent of the UK population now identify as vegetarian or vegan.

Lizzi said: “In recent years veganism and plant-based living has become infinitely more popular, with people really recognising the many benefits that it brings.

“I’m hoping people come along, learn new things and really take something away from the experience.

“Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just curious we’re welcoming everyone along and hoping that some people might be pleasantly surprised.”

Lizzi set up Dorset Vegan two years ago as a guide to vegan-friendly restaurants, cafes and local businesses.

Entry to the fair cost £1 per person with under 15s going free.
