A POPULAR high-street store will return to the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival as the ‘sole’ clothes retailer for this year’s event.

Weird Fish, which has a store on St Mary Street in Weymouth, has signed up to sponsor the festival, which will be taking place over the weekend of July 11 and 12.

The popular Echo-backed festival is returning for its eighth year in a row in Weymouth, and it will also be the fifth year in a row Weird Fish has sponsored the event.

It will be the only clothing retailer involved in the festival, and the firm will join more than 100 stands offering fresh and delicious seafood.

Hundreds of festival-goers will be drawn to Weymouth Harbour to enjoy the UK’s largest free seafood street festival.

John Stockton, managing director at Weird Fish, said: “We are thrilled to return as one of the main sponsors of the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival and proud to be involved in an event which encourages a better understanding of the seafood available from our shores.”

Roger Dalton, chairman of the seafood festival said: “It’s a pleasure to have Weird Fish on board with the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival.

“The brand represents the only clothing brand at the event and we are delighted that this is its fifth year and thank the company for its continued support.”

The festival is in aid of The Fishermen’s Mission and promises to offer something for everyone, with events including live cooking demonstrations, Great British Whelk Revival and the opportunity to learn how to fillet a fish like a pro.

In the run up to the festival, Weird Fish is offering a competition to win a fantastic festival break in a Glampotel luxury canvas cottage at the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival.

The competition prize includes a two night stay for two adults and £200 of Weird Fish clothing. The winner will also receive champagne and oysters on arrival at the festival.
