FOODIES are already planning another FEAST after the ‘resounding success’ of this year’s event.

The FEAST Weymouth Dining Event ran for six weeks in what is traditionally a quiet period for the town’s eateries.

So with the support of Weymouth BID, they teamed up to provide exciting menus at great prices and they say it really highlighted the town’s independent foodie scene.

Participating restaurants included The Dining Room, The Dorset Burger Company, The George Bar and Grill, Waffle On, The Crow’s Nest, Ming Wah and The Gurkha.

Natasha Larkham of The Ship Inn said: “We have just had the best October in 10 years, all thanks to FEAST Weymouth, we can’t wait for next year.”

Weymouth BID funded the event for the local businesses and all BID levy payers were able to participate free of charge.

The event was opened up to all businesses, although a small voluntary fee was required from non-BID levy members.

The Dorset Burger Company had more than 1,000 people dining from their FEAST menu.

Emma Cogan, pictured inset, co-owner of Dorset Burger Company, said: “Talking to our customers people have really enjoyed the event, they have taken advantage of the deals and have tried restaurants that they normally wouldn’t have gone to. I’d love to be involved next year, it has been great for us.”

A bed and breakfast has called October ‘the new September’ after receiving 20 nights’ bookings with the promotional FEAST code.

Emma Carter from B+B Weymouth said: “October has been the new September for us, it always makes a difference having good weather but when you can talk about great events too it allows us to have something to sell and talk about, we could really set the ‘Weymouth’ scene rather than just plugging our own offering. The national coverage really exposed us.”
