A DORSET couple are celebrating the taste of success after scooping an award for their clean-living ethos.
Gareth and Gill Rossiter are the county’s representatives for Riverford – an organic fruit and veg delivery company.
It has just been named Best Retailer at the Observer Ethical Awards 2014.
Gareth, who started the Dorset branch earlier this year with wife Gill, said: “We pride ourselves on being a fair-thinking business that makes considered decisions about how to do business with minimum impact on the environment and wider community.
“Our policies include supporting small-scale British farmers and producers as much as possible, and never air-freighting produce from overseas.
"We believe that good food should be available to everyone, and we’re delighted to have won such a prestigious award that shows you can do well in business without being unethical.”
Both Gill and Gareth were in the Armed Forces and on retirement decided to do something they believed in – organic produce was the answer.
Riverford began in Devon in 1987, delivering organic vegetables to 30 local homes.
There are now four Riverford sister farms in the UK, delivering to 40,000 homes.
