PINT-SIZED dreams do come true. A jammy job for beer lovers who fancy tasting dozens of craft ales and recommending which brews should go onto the shelves at Oddbins branches, the retailer has launched a national hunt to find an official customer Beer Taster to assist them.

“The Oddbins Beer Taster will have a very tough job, but somebody has to do it,” says Ayo Akintola, MD of Oddbins.

“If our Beer Taster does not already possess an encyclopaedic knowledge of British beer, they certainly will after working with us.”

The year-long role is unpaid, but the Taster will receive sufficient quantities of beer to ensure that they and their friends will never be short of a quality craft ale and it coincides with the launch of Oddbins No 2 (£2.65, 4.5%abv, 50cl, Oddbins), a new Pale Ale made by Compass Brewery in Oxfordshire.

Made in a koelsch style, but with smoked malt in the brewing process, which is typically used in Porters and Stouts.

Anyone who wants to apply for the position should simply nominate themselves on Twitter using the hashtag #OddbinsBeer, including @Oddbins to explain why they are the best candidate for the job. The winner will be selected at the end of May and candidates must be aged 18 or over.
