Dodie is top of the temps
12:24pm Friday 9th June 2006
ALTHOUGH this year Dorothy Brevitt (Dodie) will be celebrating her 70th birthday, and it is 50 years since she first joined Britain's workforce, it has not stopped her keeping up to date with new technology or becoming Jobshop UK Temp of the Year 2006.
The lavish tributes that arrived commending Dodie's commitment and attention to detail ensured she received the highly sort after accolade. Tracey Wood, Director, Jobshop UK presented her with a plaque, bouquet and bottle of champagne at a celebration to mark the occasion.
Tracey Wood said: "Every week 1.2 million temporary workers are keeping business in the UK moving. National Temporary Week promotes the contribution of the temporary workforce and demonstrates the broad range of professions and industries that temps work in. With attitudes to work changing and variety and flexibility increasingly seen as key indicators of job satisfaction temping' is becoming the choice of more and more workers."
Dodie was out shopping in Poole one day when she noticed Jobshop UK's notice board and decided to apply to become a temp.
Despite being apprehensive that her age might prohibit her from being taken on as a temp, Jobshop UK informed her that it was ability and not age that determined whether or not a person became a Jobshop temp.
Dodie Brevitt said: "I have been working for Jobshop UK for 12 months now, and I have enjoyed every moment. The jobs have been great, they have kept me young and no one has ever mentioned my age."
