Bridport Christmas Festival is back and this year it is set to be bigger and better than ever.
After a break for a year, the event was revived in 2007 and proved so successful another one is planned for 2008.
On Wednesday, December 10, the streets of Bridport will come alive as the town centre shops and numerous local clubs and
organisations get together to give something back to the community.
In addition to the official switch on of the town’s festive lights, there will be the traditional visit from Santa as
well as plenty of fun and entertainment for all the family.
Many of the towns' shops will be staying open and each of the main streets will be lined with market stalls including
charity and craft stalls.
The ever-popular Bridport Christmas Tree Festival will also continue at Bridport United Church the same night.
And as last year it is expected that a number of town venues will take part.
The event is now being run by a voluntary and independent steering group, but has the backing of Bridport Town Council
and many businesses in the town.
Arthur Woodgate, of the group, said: "We welcome anyone interested in further developing this important community event,
whatever their age or background.
"We gratefully acknowledge the immense support that this revitalised event has received, particularly from town surveyor
Daryl Chambers, the town council, local shopkeepers and community groups.
"With both an excellent co-ordinator, Frances Pearsall, and astute financial manager, Ron Bishop, we have no doubt that
the 2008 event will be an enjoyable one."
The aim is to once again create an enjoyable festival for the community, young and old, of Bridport and the surrounding
areas.
We propose to make this year’s event even better with more stalls, good food, music, entertainment and much more.
So why not get into the festive spirit and enjoy the fabulous community atmosphere at the Bridport Christmas Festival.
