A BUSINESS is celebrating five years of success by setting up partnerships to expand its work in the future.

Bluebird Care Dorset will mark its fifth birthday tomorrow (5). After opening its first office in Weymouth in 2011, the firm was expanded to a further five branches, including its Bridport office which opened in April 2015.

Bluebird provides around 10,000 care visits every month to more than 300 customers across the county.

Co-director Chris Scriven said: "We are very happy with how the last five years have gone as we have been successful in bringing quality care at home provision to vulnerable adults across the county and our expansion with the additional offices has made us more accessible to those in rural areas as well as the towns.

"As we now have a base in Bridport, we are able to much more effectively cover the far west of the county and we are proud of the fact that we never charge mileage to our customers for getting to or from the care visit no matter how remotely they may live."

The company and its staff have enjoyed a spate of success in both local and regional awards over the last five years. Accolades include being a finalists for three years in a row in the Care Innovators category of the Great South West Care Awards, winning in 2014.

Bluebird has also taken an active role in supporting the local community, having provided more than £50,000 to causes supporting vulnerable adults.

Mr Scriven added: "While our care at home visits are the backbone of the work we do, we recognise that there are other groups out there providing invaluable services to vulnerable people and we aim to support them where we can.

"Our remit is to help promote our customer’s well-being and we can do that both through the provision of our own services and through supporting local groups with a similar remit."

The firm hopes the next five years will bring a range of further advances with an assistive technology partnership being developed with a national provider. Bluebird hopes the partnership will allow further independent living products such as pendant alarms and falls detectors to be included within the company’s range of services.

Another partnership is also being developed with DOTS Disability, the social enterprise arm of the Access Dorset charity, to support Bluebird Care in providing access to daily living aids and adaptations to the home environment.
