DENHAY Farms is once again a big cheese after winning a haul of awards at the Devon County and Royal Bath and West Show.

Having won round one of the Danisco Grand Prix, the Broadoak company went on to claim 11 prize cards and four trophies at the Royal Bath and West Show last week.

Managing director, George Streatfeild said: "There are two particularly important trophies. One is for an extra mature traditional cheddar, and the other for the highest number of points scored over 20 classes, which shows a consistency across the show."

The cheese house team is led by Simon Hill and Mike Reeve, head cheesemaker since the retirement of Bill Parsons, who had been with the company for over 35 years.

"It is a tribute to our team both in the cheese house, and those on the farm producing the milk, that eventually becomes the award winning cheese," added Mr Streatfeild.
