THE Bridport and District Model Railway Club held a club ‘Open Day’ at Askerswell village hall.

Visitors were able to see the club members working on layouts and view a variety of layouts by club members in different gauges and themes.

Several members of the public brought items of their own stock to run on the club test track and others had some items for minor repairs which were done with assistance from club members.

The visitors were able to ‘play’ trains all day on layouts including ‘Thomas the tank’, a narrow gauge railway called Lane End and a Somerset and Dorset layout entitled ‘Shillingford’.

The day also included railway pictures painted by local artist Nick Hardcastle and a display of the Royal train.

Light refreshments and drinks were provided during the day and many of the visitors remarked on how much they had enjoyed the day.

The club’s next exhibition is to be held in Bridport on Saturday July 30.
