THREE days of family fun is on offer in West Bay next week when an annual event returns.

Nature Rocks will take place from Tuesday (11) to Thursday (13) at The Salt House and the surrounding area.

Appearing this year will be popular paper mache artist Darrell Wakelam, who will create a 'cabinet of curiosities' over the space of three days in the mould of famous Bridport scientist Dr Roberts.

Members of the public can chip in and all their own hand-made curios to the cabinet.

Martin Maudsley will appear next Thursday, weaving fascinating stories about the coast, based on traditional folklore in a series of story-telling sessions.

There will also be displays and activities throughout the three days from organisations such as Bridport Museum, the Jurassic Coast Team and Litter Free Coast and Sea.

Nichola Blackmore, assistant curator of Bridport Museum, said: "Bridport Museum is delighted to be involved with Nature Rocks, as it is such a great way to get the community interested in their local environment and history.

"This year the museum is really looking forward to creating curiosities and curios, just like our very own Dr Roberts."

Guy Kerr of the Jurassic Coast Trust thinks the relaxed feel of the event is appealing to locals and visitors to West Bay.

He said: "Nature Rocks has become somewhat of a summer tradition for the Bridport area.

"We love the relaxed feel of the event; people can stop by whilst visiting West Bay or pop in and out over the course of the three days and see what’s going on.”
