A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital following a crash with a van near Dorchester.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 2pm following the smash, which happened on Watery Lane in Tincleton.

The road is partially blocked in both directions between the Ilsington Road junction and the Woodsford junction as the emergency services work.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.17pm to a collision involving a motorcyclist and a van.

"One casualty, which is believed to be the motorcyclist has been taken to Dorset County Hospital.

"It is not yet known how serious the injuries are."

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 2.13pm to a two vehicle road traffic collision between a motorbike and a van on Watery lane, Tincleton.

"It involved a black Kawasaki motorbike, registered to a man from Dorchester, and a white Mercedes van, registered to a company from Southampton.

"South Western Ambulance Service are currently at the scene, and the motorcyclist is complaining of abdominal injuries."
