WEST Dorset MP Oliver Letwin will head up the Cabinet Office, the Prime Minister has announced.

David Cameron has been organising his Cabinet following the General Election.

This afternoon he announced that Mr Letwin, who has been the West Dorset MP since 1997, has been made a 'full member of Cabinet and will be in overall charge of the Cabinet Office.'

He was previously Minister of State for Government Policy.

A number of new faces have been appointed to roles in the Cabinet. Mr Cameron pledged that a third of members would be women, which reflects the fact that following last week's election, one in three MPs are now women.

Among those to make the Cabinet are Amber Rudd, a former aide to the Chancellor, who is promoted to Energy Secretary, Theresa May, the Home Secretary, and Nicky Morgan, the Education Secretary keep their titles.

Priti Patel is promoted, also from the Treasury, to replace Esther McVey as employment minister. She will not be a full Cabinet member but will attend weekly meetings And Mayor of London Boris Johnson has also been made a member of the Cabinet. He will not become a minister until his term as mayor ends next year.
