SNOW and ice could cause problems in part of West Dorset over the weekend.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for areas including Beaminster, Bridport and Lyme Regis – in place during Saturday morning.
A cold snap has been forecast by the Met Office for this weekend, with temperatures feeling like as little as -1C by 8pm tonight. Between 2cm and 4cm of snow could fall over areas of high ground on Saturday morning.
“A band of rain, sleet and snow will spread east across the area on Saturday morning” said a Met Office spokesperson.
“Icy patches may form, especially on untreated surfaces. The public should be aware of the risk of some difficult driving conditions.”
People are being advised that ‘prolonged periods of cold weather can be dangerous, especially for the very young, very old or those with chronic diseases.’
Ice and snow warnings have been issued for others parts of the country, mainly in the north for today and Saturday.
