You can help stop the floods
10:37am Thursday 10th October 2013 in News
WEST Dorset residents are being asked for their help with managing local flood risks.
There will be a drop-in session in Bridport’s Bucky Doo Square next Wednesday, October 16, between 9am and 2pm for people to find out how they can become involved.
There is also an online survey with pages explaining what it is all about.
Hilary Cox, the county council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “We want to prioritise flood risk management to reflect the impact it has and the funding available.
“Structures and features both private and public that protect properties from flooding may not be legally protected and can be altered without consent.
“It is important that our records are developed and appropriate structures and features legally protected to ensure properties remain protected.
“This is the residents’ opportunity to influence how flooding from local sources can be better managed.
“We are holding a number of drop-in sessions across Dorset and an online survey to gather views.”
