Students get a taste of foreign culture
THERE was the chance to say bon appétit, as well as guten Tag, hola! and also an arrivederci for Beaminster School students.
To celebrate European Day of Languages the school took on a cosmopolitan feel.
Staff and students took part in different activities, celebrating languages and cultural differences.
Year 7 students had the opportunity to experience some Italian, a little German, a bit of Spanish and even some Mandarin or Vietnamese.
Students were also able to taste a variety of different foods as the school canteen joined in the celebrations with a different cultural theme for each day of the week.
Year 10 students helped to prepare some French savoury nibbles to give students a real flavour of France, including goat’s cheese, saucisson sec and pate, while Year 11 pupils made some tapas.
Head of foreign languages at Beaminster Jill Forster said: “The week was a tremendous success with students enjoying being taught new languages by both staff and students. “Special mention must go to students Lottie Hyde and Cindy Ewe who taught Vietnamese and Mandarin respectively.
“It was an amazing opportunity for all involved.”
