Dorset is set to feature on the new series of a travel programme on Channel 5.

The Big Steam Adventure will be hitting the screens tonight at 8pm, with viewers able to see the beautiful countryside of Dorset in the third episode on Friday, May 17.

The series features journalist and presenter John Sergeant, actor Peter Davison and steam officiando Paul ‘Piglet’ Middleton as they explore Britain’s countryside by steam.

To make things more interesting, the episode is shot during Storm Babet in October of last year, which posed a few challenges of its own.

The trio began their journey in Swanage, on the maiden voyage of a restored T3 train, as they make their way across the Dorset countryside.

From there they climb aboard a steam powered Leyland Sherpa and drive over to Kimmeridge.

Then Storm Babet blows and the trio jumped into a nine-tonne bus with very little tyre grip for the roads, making the Dorset hills a bit of a challenge in the stormy weather.

A pit stop for more water, to power their steam engine, the trio take a walk along Chesil beach and visit Portland Bill.

As the weather calms down the final steam vehicle, a ninety-five-year-old cider wagon takes the travellers to Abbotsbury Swannery for a quick visit, before arriving at their final destination West Bay.

The episode will air at 8pm on Friday, May 17
